After an incredible year of creativity, posting 52 new songs over the course of 2015, we are proud to announce the release of They Might Be Giants new disc PHONE POWER. Boasting 18 pop gems, Phone Power continues the all-killer, no-filler tradition of the band’s current efforts. The disc includes “I Love You for Psychological Reasons” the standout track that will be lodged in your head with barely a second listen, and a disarming reworking of Destiny’s Child’s classic “Bills, Bills, Bills.”

Recorded in a secret location in New York City with Pat Dillett (Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent, The National, David Byrne) this album finds the Giants working mostly in the same power-packed configuration as their hard-working live line up, with a minimum of production embellishments.

Phone Power is out now on Lojinx CD & digital.

The Posies return to European shores with their new album Solid States for 2 weeks of shows in the UK, Netherlands and Belgium.

After a triumphant run of dates across Europe in March & April the newly revitalised trio-format band head back to Europe in October, following a 27-date run of secret shows in the US.

The band have always been exploring, growing and 2016 sees them continuing in that vein. None of US shows were in conventional music venues, with the location only revealed to ticket holders not more than 24 hours in advance of each show. The band are now touring as a trio, with no bass player, and Solid States collaborator Frankie Siragusa on drums. New album, Solid States, was not recorded in the usual band-in-a-room manner. Stringfellow and Auer sent song ideas back and forth online, writing and largely recording the album separately – but collaboratively – in their home studios.

The autumn tour starts in Manchester on 27th October, ending on 9th November in Diksmuide, Belgium. Solid States is out now Lojinx CD, digital and heavyweight vinyl LP.

Rock ‘n’ roll has rarely been as smart, soulful or satisfying than it has in the hands of The Posies. During an on/off career that’s stretched across four decades, the Seattle-rooted outfit, led by musical polymaths Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, have shaped and re-shaped their muse, creating one of the more compelling catalogues in modern pop.

With SOLID STATES, their 8th album, the Posies mark dramatic changes in the lives, the music, the evolution of the band.

When the Posies long time drummer, Darius, died suddenly and unexpectedly last year, Posies founding members Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow were devastated. Hard as it was to continue without such a close friend and great musician, the moment called for a reinvention. For now… the idea of the band getting into a room and banging out the music, garage band style, was over. The ideas coming from Jon and Ken were fragile and the moods contemplative. Death, divorce, loss. Even the joys of life are fleeting enough as to be treated with care and respect.

Of course, the Posies still retain their legendary melodic abilities, their trademark vocal harmonies and their lyrical agility. The band has always been exploring, growing. The multiyear gaps between albums are typically spent in countless other projects that bring new skills, sounds, experiences and people to the picture. The band will present the album live in a new format, incorporating laptop elements along with guitars, keyboards and drums. As artists, the band feels it’s their duty to take risks and explore.

Download album track Squirrel vs Snake:

“SQUIRREL vs. SNAKE” is a state of the ‘disunion’ in the USA and beyond… the disharmony, the threats to intellectual freedom, and the cynicism and lies we take for granted now in the age of doublespeak.

Solid States will be released on heavyweight vinyl LP, CD and digital on British indie Lojinx on the 29th April 2016 in Europe. A pre-release tour edition, with bonus download tracks, will be available exclusively at live shows in Europe throughout April.

Fred Abbott roped friends and family into helping him shot an impromptu live video during his January residency at Camden’s The Forge.  With mobile phones aloft around the venue, the footage was pulled together by Gavin Burridge into a nifty video for album favourite “Awake” that captures some of the live on-stage magic. Former Noah & The Whale band-mate and, now, Mumford & Sons violinist, Tom Hobden guests to bring some of the studio magic he contributed to Fred’s new album, Serious Poke.

In other news, Fred has been announced on the bill for this years Cornbury Festival on 8-10th July in Oxfordshire. For more tour dates keep an eye on Fred’s website: www.fredabbott.com
