Butch Walker & The Black Widows

Lojinx artist Butch Walker

"one of America's best singer-songwriters" Rolling Stone

"reaffirmation of the pleasures of witty phrasing and a perfect chorus" LA Times

Singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Butch Walker started out as a member of acclaimed band The Marvelous 3 and has since embarked on a solo career, with equal successes as both artist and producer.

In addition to a live DVD and five studio albums released since 2002, he was named Producer of the Year by Rolling Stone in 2005. He has produced hit records by a staggering number of acclaimed artists including Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Pink, Katy Perry, Panic! At the Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Pete Yorn, Avril Lavigne and many others.

In 2010, he accompanied Taylor Swift for her live duet with Stevie Nicks at that year’s televised Grammy Awards and released his first album under the name Butch Walker & The Black Widows. The second, "The Spade", is out now on Lojinx..

Drinking with Strangers: Music Lessons from a Teenage Bullet Belt Butch Walker's biography will be published by Harper Collins in October 2011. A primer for anyone who wants to make it in the music business, "Drinking with Strangers", is interspersed with lots of Butch-isms, including "the world's most depressing pie chart about music publishing"; how in 1984 his production "studio" consisted of a boom box, today it's a Studer and Pro Tools; how to make a really bad music video and spend 3x what the album cost to make and more.

Butch says, "If anything, you should read it because it can be funny at times, and maybe you will learn what NOT to do in the music world (there’s also some funny pie chart illustrations throughout)".
